MACD components

MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) shows:

  • MACD line — difference between 12 EMA and 26 EMA.
  • Signal line — 9 EMA of the MACD line.
  • Histogram — gap between MACD and signal (momentum strength visual).
Histogram bars — momentum strength Zero line = MACD meets signal

MACD crossovers work best in trending conditions. In ranges, histogram chop mirrors MA crossover noise.
